The HCT 24th Annual Conference will be held on Saturday, 10 September 2011 at Dubai Men's College in Dubai. The conference will feature speakers and presenters from the HCT and the international higher education community.
This year's conference will focus on the theme of "Raising the bar". Over the past few years, HCT faculty and management have worked together to review our curriculum directions and comprehensively revise program offerings and progression flows with an objective to enhance standards and challenge ourselves and our students to meet these higher academic standards. We have sought to accredit our programs with agencies such as ABET. The new Foundation program – introduced last year – challenges all our students to achieve international university entry skills at the end of the Foundation program. The results of the New Foundation program seem to vindicate this strategy of raising the standards and challenging our students to meet them. As a natural evolution of this process, we are increasing our admission standards. Every student entering HCT now has an opportunity to graduate with an internationally accredited Bachelor degree. In this conference, we will explore the challenges and opportunities that HCT faces in raising the bar. Discussions will include designing and delivering curriculum for a globalizing world, designing effective online interventions, and balancing industry perspectives with academic frameworks for success in the workplace. Sessions will explore these fundamentals as well as other processes and issues crucial to the functioning and flourishing of the HCT as a dynamic institution.
